Cookies Policy

How Watermark in Word uses cookies and browser storage for appearance, security, account features and usage measurement.

1. What browser storage does

Cookies are small values sent with website requests. Local storage can remember preferences between visits; session storage is limited to a browser tab session. These mechanisms support the website interface and are separate from uploaded documents held on our servers.

2. Preferences and workspace data

Your browser remembers appearance preferences until you change or clear them. Files, passwords and watermark settings in the workspace last for the current page session; refreshing clears the workspace. Cookie preferences may also be stored in your browser. Clearing browser data does not delete uploaded files.

3. Security and account features

An anonymous identity cookie helps identify requests from the same browser; its current name and expiry settings appear below. Sign-in and verification features also use cookies when you use those features. Session cookies expire according to the relevant flow and may be renewed while you continue using the service. Blocking or clearing them can sign you out or interrupt verification.

4. Usage measurement and third parties

We use first-party analytics to understand visits and interactions. Browser session storage may help measure visits. Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity and advertising services are not currently enabled. Our Privacy Policy explains how the service handles information; the absence of a cookie banner does not mean that no usage information is collected.

5. Your controls

Use your browser settings to inspect, block or clear cookies and site storage. This may reset preferences or interrupt sign-in. A cookie preference panel is not currently displayed on this site. Contact support about information stored by the service; clearing your browser is not a request to delete server-held data.

Browser recognition

The cookie watermarkinword_anonymous_id helps the service recognize your browser. It lasts for 365d and can be renewed when less than 30d remains. Clearing it may cause a new cookie to be issued on a later visit.

The cookie uses a random identifier rather than your name or email address.
